Making Me Smile This Week...

This week the things that have been making me smile have all been to do with food

✿ Last Tuesday we were invited to celebrate my cousin Sophie's 21st birthday at the lovely Dysart Arms in Petersham. An Arts and Crafts building dating back from 1904, the interior has been sympathetically restored keeping many original features. We were treated to the amazing Tasting Menu with wines selected to compliment each course - if we had to choose a favourite it would be the wild stone bass, tender celeriac, spiced herbal kaffir lime & green chilli sauce matched with a delicious Pinto Gris from Te Mara Estate in New Zealand. Compliments to the head chef Kenneth Culhane, the meal was a real treat for us all!
✿ The Foodies Festival on Clapham Common was the perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. We arrived just after 1pm and managed to find enough foodie disctractions to keep us there until just before closing at 8pm! The delicious G&Ts being served at the Fever Tree stand certainly helped! If you missed out, fear not - the festival is returning to Battersea in August, with Feast in Battersea Park.

✿ This week I attempted my first gluten and egg free bake. Thank you so much to Gwyneth Paltrow who's gorgeous new book It's All Good provided the inspiration - the sweet potato and five spice muffins were delicious!

After a lot of deliberation, P and I have finally decided to sign up to Riverford Organic Farms for a fortnightly vegbox. We are very excited about supporting UK farmers as well as getting a box of organic surprises delivered straight to our door!

✿ Finally {and only because I am convinced the more I mention it, the sooner P will crack and let me get one!} we watched a Vitamix in action at the food fair on Saturday. They really are very impressive and the fact that you can make any flavour ice cream in just over 30 seconds has almost swayed P and his very sweet tooth! I hope to be introducing our very own machine to you soon!

What's making you smile this week?
