Product of the Week: Pink Velvet Sofa from Graham & Green

In a determined bid to defeat this horrible grey weather that seems to have totally set in across West Dorset (the last few days have even featured a fog that is remniscent of cold January days), I am determined to bring some colour into my life in other ways. Today I will be mostly daydreaming about these beautiful velvet sofas and armchairs in deep pink from the gorgeous Windsor collection at Graham & Green

I'm in love!

Interiors Inspiration: Pastel Shades in Beautiful Massachusetts Beach House

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend? It was so gorgeous to finally see some sunshine yesterday - I had the perfect weekend pottering with my friend Sarah; Saturday morning was spent browsing the bric a brac at the fabulous Bridport market, followed by an afternoon walk in the woods behind The Golden Cap foraging for Elderflowers. We ended up with a great loot, which I'm planning to turn it into cordial later today. If a success, post to follow! To celebrate the return of the sunshine and a glimpse of summer time I wanted to share pictures of this beautiful beach house in Massachusetts. The soft pastel colours work beautifully to enhance the light, bright rooms. The simple wooden floors and use of the occasional primary colour perfectly enhance this beautiful beach-side home.

Have a lovely week and long may the sunshine continue!

I am absolutely loving this lovely fresh, new, vintage inspired floral collection of fabrics called Rosetta recently launched by Clarke & Clarke. There are eight different patterns ranging from large scale floral/bird trail, to a pretty ditsy rose, floral stripe and a Jacobean styled trail. All designs are available as oil cloth and there really is something for everyone. Prices from £14 a metre, which is great value for such a quality fabric. My Home: First Ever Flowers!

Happy Friday! I don't know where this week has gone and can't believe we are still experiencing such extreme weather...gale force winds and floods are forecast for Dorset this weekend, so I hope that it's better than that wherever you are! In between the storms I have managed to grow my first ever flowers in the garden (I've never had a proper garden until this year). Planted from seed and bulb, above are some Ranunculus and Sweet Peas from the garden..I'm feeling very proud!

Have a lovely weekend.

Your Home: Bringing the Outside In...

Thanks to the weather this week this post (which was going to be about picnicking) is now about bringing the outside in so that this weekend you can dine as if having a picnic, but in the comfort and warmth of your home. My inspiration for this piece came from on of my favourite blogs, A Beach Cottage, written by Sarah who emmigrated to Australia from the UK a few years ago, has amazing taste and appears to live a happy and idyllic exsistence just on the edge of Sydney. This table decoration and design is stunning and really does create a feeling of bringing and outdoor picnic inside. The gorgeous blue paisley patterned napkins, combined with the simple white ceramic and rattan placemats offer an effortlessly chic, but incredibly stylish setting. The large daisys (of which there are lots growing in the wild near here, so also possibly near you?) are a gorgeous way to create a casual flower display and hangind the lanterns is a great way to add atmosphere/make you feel like you are dining out under the stars! I love it and I hope you do too. Have a lovely weekend wherever you are and hopefully (weather permitting!) I can share my picnic post with you next week!

Homes Away From Home: Our Heavenly French House Swap

Last month P and I took a short trip to France as a mini holiday before his busy season starts. In an attempt to keep costs down we decided to sign up to a house swapping website, Love Home Swap, which we had been recommended friends. We were both quite nervous about the experience, but met up with the lovely owners of Rocking Horse house for a drink in London before we left, which I would highly recommend as it's much nicer having a face to the name before you go and stay in their house! When we arrived we were totally blown away by how stunning it was; as you can see from these photos we really did get lucky on this occasion and had a gorgeous week in the Cognac region. As the house is regularly used as a second home, it had everything you would need to really feel as if you actually are at home, so we much preferred it to staying in a hotel. I can't recommend Love Home Swap enough - they have an amazing selection of properties all around the world and if this experience is anything to go by, then most of them will be five star!
