For Sale: Renovation Project, Lloseta, Mallorca

This beautiful old Mallorcan village house is currently on the market for just over 600,000€, is in need of total renovation, but has so much potential to become a beautiful Mediterranean family home. A traditional stone built house located towards the centre of the island, it has many original features including wooden beams, tiled and stone floors, fireplaces and a beautiful rustic wooden doors. Set on the edge of the charming village of Lloseta surrounded beautiful countryside, with a number of beaches within a short drive and the island's capital Palma only 30 minutes away, it really is a great find and the perfect base from which to fully explore the island.

Interiors Inspiration: Colour of the Sea

On a beautiful sunny morning like today I would just LOVE to be waking up in this traditional fisherman's house on the coast of Southern Spain. Inherited by the family of a former fisherman, they have renovated the cottage-style property perfectly, keeping the colour scheme so simple with shades of white and blue and I think it works fantastically.

Your Home: The Ultimate in Royal Memorabilia?

{Via Windsor Knot}

Check out this amazing and quite terrifying fridge that has been designed by a UK manufacturer to commemorate the Royal Wedding next month....I think it's hilarious and really takes Royal Memorabilia to another level, but not sure I'd want one in my kitchen...

Happy Friday! x

A beautiful bloom to celebrate the official start of Spring

{Photography courtesy of www.butlermaddenphotography.com}
A few weeks ago in the Pollensa Sunday Market I visited the flower man, which is part of my weekly routine, to see what seasonal specials he has on offer. Just I was leaving with a few bunches of tulips (up until now my favourite Spring bloom), I spotted a tiny brightly coloured bunch sitting in a bucket on the corner of the stand.

These little bursts of colour (they are so petite that the best way to display them is in an oversize stemless wine glass) were introduced to me as a type of Ranuculus, from the same family as the Buttercup and a flower that I have never come across before now. They are absolutely gorgeous, look a bit like mini-peonies and come mainly in colours of red, orange, pink and white.

I have bought a bunch every week since and it's the best 3.50€ I have ever spent. Each morning they are the first thing I see when I open my eyes and it's such a lovely way to start the day.

Sadly the flower man told me yesterday that they will only be in season for another two weeks as they are a Spring flower, so to help me through the Ranuculus free months ahead I have decided to buy my own bulbs to create my own bloom for next year.

Coco loves the Ranuculus too!

Home Baking: Cookie Pie

I spotted this recipe whilst multitasking this morning; browsing the internet for inspiration and decorations for a friends wedding whilst catching up with another friend on the phone. I was stopped in my tracks by the image above and could only manage to mutter 'yum' at my confused friend before hanging up.
I am rushing this post slightly so that I can make it to the supermarket before lunchtime closing and get cookie pie baking this afternoon.
Happy Sunday!

Your Home: Creative Recycling!

While browsing my new favourite website this morning I stumbled across this image and had to share it with you. What an amazing idea!

I think it's absolutely genius....having pancake mix on tap as well as doing your bit for the environment by recycling old tomato ketchup bottles. Continuing along those lines you could also use them for chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, the list is endless....if you have any other great ideas for recycling general household items then please let me know!

Interiors Inspiration: Splashes of colour for Spring

I simply adore the style of this house - the white walls and simple tiles really help to accentuate the lovely splashes of bright colour used throughout.
Perfect Springtime inspiration!

Homes for Sale: Farmhouse in the Dordogne

This gorgeous 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house near Verteillac in the Dordogne is currently for sale at an asking price of €328,000, which I think is a total bargain when compared to what the same money would get you in the UK or Mallorca. The property oozes charm and character, has original tiled and wooden floors throughout, old beams, stone walls and fireplaces, but is in good condition and ready to move into.

The main house consists of a welcoming entrance hall which leads to the main sitting room. This has a feature fireplace and french doors to the gorgeous garden with swimming pool and fabulous views of the countryside. The beautiful old oak staircase (pictured above) leads up to the three bedrooms and summer lounge. There is a separate gite that has a large kitchen with exposed beams and stone walls, sitting room with old fireplace and original stone sink as well as a bathroom and a large bedroom upstairs. There is also a very large barn that has been semi converted for living, a garage and a well!

The house is situated close to the very quaint village of Bertric Buree with a selection of lovely restaurants and everything you need from a small village...it sounds totally idyllic....where do I sign?!

Homes for Sale: Country Cottage in Somerset

This beautiful period stone and thatched cottage in Somerset is currently for sale through Chesterton Humberts at an asking price of £325,000. It has three bedrooms, 3 reception rooms and many original features throughout. It also has the added bonus of being at the end of a no through road, so it offers peace and quiet in a lovely rural setting. I think it's really sweet and although it doesn't need renovating, with a little bit of work and a few creative touches it could become the perfect romantic weekend getaway!

My Work: Calvario Project Finished and For Sale

{Photography courtesy of www.butlermaddenphotography.com}

My first building project is now complete and for sale; I feel a mix of emotions ranging from relief, to excitement and of course little bit of sadness that soon it will be time to hand the house over to someone else. Project managing a build has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done, but now looking back (as with a lot of things) I seem to have forgotten the bad moments and have a charmed, rose-tinted memory of the process!

The house has been designed built in a traditional Mallorquin style using top quality reclaimed materials; sandstone from palaces in Palma, original wooden beams, the best Mallorquin marble and terracotta flooring throughout. I have tried to keep it as neutral as possible so that the owner can easily put their own stamp on it and turn it into a home.

The furnishings are mainly from London (browsing the sales for hours online last January!) and a collection of additional vintage bits and pieces from flea markets and ebay - it was a lot of fun and very rewarding and I am already getting excited about my next project, whatever that may be!
